Today we had a visit from Bugfest. We saw and held lots of different creatures that can be found in the rainforest. We also found out more about the importance of protecting the rainforest.
On Monday 17th June, we were very lucky to receive a visit from two STEM ambassadors who brought a range of equipment, meals and drinks that would be needed to survive on an expedition through the rainforest.
We tasted a range of ration-packed foods, which were heated in boiling water, and discussed the nutritional values needed to provide energy.
We also tried a range of energy drinks, made from powders and water, and discussed the need to stay hydrated whilst also providing a much needed energy boost.
Finally, we tried on a range of military equipment including boots, hats, jackets and backpacks. We realised how heavy the backpacks are as they need to contain all of the equipment necessary for survival.
